REGLUGERÐ + STAÐALL: Skiljandi og berandi hlutar brunahólfa, brunaveggir og -loft með þéttum útektum, eldvarnarhurðir og brunalokur skulu vera heil, án óþéttra opa; brunaþol berandi og skiljandi hluta skal viðhaldast og byggingarvörur samsvara tilskildri brunaflokkun. Lagaleg stoð: brunahólf og brunaþol -- byggingarreglugerð nr. 112/2012 (reglugerð); flokkun byggingarvara -- IST EN 13501 (staðall).

REGULATION + STANDARD: The separating and load-bearing elements of fire compartments, fire walls and floors with sealed penetrations, fire doors and fire dampers must be intact, without unsealed openings; the fire resistance of load-bearing and separating elements must be preserved and construction products meet the required fire classification. STANDARD + REQUIREMENT: Where a fixed extinguishing system (sprinkler, gas, foam or water-mist) is installed, as a fixed active fire-protection system it must be in a ready and sound state (charged/pressurised, valves open and monitored, sprinkler heads clear, water/agent source and pumps sound) and subject to periodic inspection and maintenance. Legal basis: installed extinguishing system -- Building Regulation no. 112/2012 and Regulation no. 723/2017 (regulation); design and maintenance -- IST EN 12845 (standard).

STANDARD + REQUIREMENT: Where a smoke and heat control/exhaust system is installed, as a fixed active fire-protection system it must be kept functional and periodically inspected (smoke dampers/vents and fans actuate on test, exhaust and make-up openings clear, control and backup power sound). Legal basis: installed smoke-exhaust system -- Building Regulation no. 112/2012 and Regulation no. 723/2017 (regulation); components and tests -- IST EN 12101 (standard).

STANDARD + REQUIREMENT: Where required, the premises must have hose reels (internal fire-fighting network / hydrants) with adequate pressure and water flow for first-aid firefighting, in readily accessible places; as fire-safety equipment they must be functional, maintained and periodically inspected. REQUIREMENT: The external fire water (external hydrants, tanks or draw-off points) serving the premises must be functional, marked, accessible to fire appliances and ensure the required water volume for firefighting; hydrants are inspected periodically. LÖG + REGLUGERÐ: Starfsfólk skal fá fræðslu og þjálfun í brunavörnum (notkun handslökkvitækja og slökkvibúnaðar, boðun bruna, viðbrögð við eldsvoða og rýmingu) með upphaflegri og reglubundinni fræðslu; rýmingaræfingar skulu haldnar og fræðsla og æfingar skjalfestar. Lagaleg stoð: fræðsla, þjálfun og rýmingaræfingar -- lög nr. 46/1980 (lög) og reglugerð nr. 723/2017 (reglugerð).

STATUTE + REGULATION: Staff must receive information and training in fire safety (use of extinguishers and fire-fighting equipment, raising the alarm, actions on fire and evacuation) through initial and periodic instruction; evacuation drills must be held and the training and drills documented. STATUTE + REGULATION: Wiring and electrical equipment must be in a safe technical condition and used as intended so they do not become an ignition source (no overload, temporary or damaged wiring, or storage of combustibles near hot surfaces); ignition sources are controlled and faults remedied. STATUTE + REGULATION: Flammable and dangerous materials (flammable liquids, gases, gas cylinders) are stored in marked, ventilated and secured places, in permitted quantities, separated from ignition sources and escape routes; storage and use comply with fire-safety rules. Legal basis: storage and handling of flammable and dangerous substances -- Act no. 46/1980 (statute) and Regulation no. 723/2017 (regulation).

LÖG + REGLUGERÐ: Atvinnurekandi skal gera skriflegt áhættumat um öryggi og heilsu starfsmanna, þar með talið áhættu vegna eldsvoða, ákveða forvarnir og verndarráðstafanir og tilnefna ábyrgðaraðila/eldvarnarfulltrúa fyrir brunavarnir; áhættumatið og brunavarnir mannvirkis (eigið eftirlit) skulu vera skjalfest og aðgengileg við skoðun. Lagaleg stoð: áhættumatsskylda -- lög nr. 46/1980 (lög); eigið eftirlit og ábyrgð eiganda/forráðamanns -- reglugerð nr. 723/2017 (reglugerð).

STATUTE + REGULATION: The employer must carry out a written assessment of workers' safety and health risks, including the risk of fire, define preventive and protective measures and appoint a responsible person / fire-safety officer for fire protection; the assessment and the building's fire safety (owner self-inspection) must be documented and available at inspection. Athugasemdum og kröfum um úrbætur úr skoðun skal ljúka innan tilsettra fresta og skjalfesta samræmi. Lagaleg stoð: eldvarnareftirlit slökkviliðs og hlutverk HMS -- lög um brunavarnir nr. 75/2000 (lög); framkvæmd skoðunar og úrbætur -- reglugerð nr. 723/2017 (reglugerð).

STATUTE + REGULATION: The municipal fire brigade carries out fire-safety supervision and inspection of premises and activities; the Housing and Construction Authority (HMS) is the fire-protection authority and issues guidance. Comments and requirements for improvement from inspection must be completed within the set deadlines and conformity documented. REGLUGERÐ: Flóttaleiðir, neyðarútgangar og aðkoma að þeim skulu ávallt vera greiðfærar, án hindrana eða brennanlegs efnis og með nægilegri breidd, svo skjót og örugg rýming sé möguleg. Hurðir neyðarútganga skulu opnast auðveldlega innanfrá án lykils og, þar sem við á, í áttina að flóttaleið. REGULATION: Escape routes, emergency exits and their approaches must at all times be clear, without obstruction or combustibles and of adequate width, so quick and safe evacuation is possible. Emergency-exit doors must open easily from inside without a key and, where applicable, in the direction of escape. REGLUGERÐ + STAÐALL: Í mannvirkinu skal vera nægur fjöldi viðeigandi handslökkvitækja miðað við notkun og brunahættu, á sýnilegum og auðaðgengilegum stöðum; tækin eru yfirfarin og viðhaldin reglubundið (árlegt eftirlit/viðhald og áfylling innan tilskilins tíma) af viðurkenndum þjónustuaðila samkvæmt reglum HMS. Lagaleg stoð: útvegun, eftirlit og viðhald handslökkvitækja -- reglugerð nr. 723/2017 og reglur HMS (reglugerð); kröfur til tækja -- IST EN 3 (staðall).

REGULATION + STANDARD: The premises must have a sufficient number of suitable portable extinguishers according to use and fire risk, in visible and readily accessible places; the units are periodically inspected and maintained (annual inspection/service and refill within the prescribed period) by an authorized service provider per HMS rules. REGLUGERÐ: Fyrir mannvirki og starfsemi skal liggja fyrir rýmingaráætlun og viðbragðsáætlun vegna eldsvoða, sett upp á sýnilegum og aðgengilegum stöðum, sem sýnir flóttaleiðir, neyðarútganga og staðsetningu slökkvibúnaðar; áætlunin skal endurspegla raunverulega aðstöðu húsnæðis. REGULATION: For the premises and activity there must be an evacuation plan and emergency response plan for fire, posted in visible and accessible places, showing escape routes, emergency exits and the location of fire-fighting equipment; the plan must reflect the actual layout of the premises.
